Roland Keniger, owner and manager of Hôtel Marignan, comments: “We have been part of tourism in Paris for more than 60 years, and promoting tourism is part of our DNA, regardless of the economic situation. Like everyone, we have just experienced a difficult period and we feel that it is natural to participate in the return of tourism in accordance with our values. The recent health crisis has made us focus even more to our fundamental values, such as respecting others, quality relations with clients and our sense of service. Adapting to our clients’ needs, maintaining an environment in which each person feels welcome, encouraging contacts and exchange, correspond to our vision of a hotel staff’s job. Our hotel combines elements of tradition and modernity. We have always favored a personalized relation with our clients and our approach is the opposite of standardization.
Good value in the heart of the Latin Quarter
Ideally located in a quiet street in the heart of the Latin Quarter, a five minute walk from Notre Dame, the Hôtel Marignan has been a meeting place for travelers from around the world since 1955. Since the beginning, the hotel has been known for its welcome, and many clients return regularly.
Opened by Henri and Hélène Keniger, the hotel has been managed by the Keniger family for three generations. Currently, the hotel is managed by Roland Keniger. Prior to taking over the hotel’s management, Roland Keniger worked in high-tech, in distribution (audiovisual equipment) and in consulting. He follows closely all trends and innovations in the tourism business.
A unique sense of service and welcome
From the first contact, the hotel’s staff focuses on the quality of client relations. Each reservation request is handled individually, and the hotel makes sure to advise guests about the best transportation options, the organization of their trip and how to get the most out of their stay in Paris.
In order to respond to the needs of its international clientele, the hotel has always had a multicultural staff. Current staff members are from France, Poland, the United States, England and Lithuania. All staff members speak at least three languages; they all share a passion for travel and for contacts with the hotel’s diverse guests.
Clients benefit from staff members’ in-depth knowledge of Paris and its secrets. Guests will find at the hotel tourist guides as well as personalized advice about restaurants and sights to visit.
An exceptional quality – price ratio
Thanks to the staff’s client service, as well as to the hotel’s location and its excellent quality – price ratio, the hotel’s guests include both tourists and business travelers.
Hôtel Marignan is one of the few hotels in Paris to offer private rooms for up to five people. The hotel is therefore well-adapted to families, as well as to solo travelers or couples.
Hôtel Marignan offers 30 rooms for from 1 to 5 people on six floors; 20 rooms face the street and three have balconies. The hotel offers three levels of comfort and prices corresponding to a range of needs. The hotel is equipped with high bandwidth fiber optic WIFI.
A renovation respecting the hotel’s atmosphere and authenticity
To optimize space and traffic flow, Hôtel Marignan has just been renovated by an interior design architect, who has respected the hotel’s unique atmosphere and authenticity: new parquet and acoustic materials; new lighting fixtures (Artemide, Leucos FontanaArte); audiovisual and computer systems for special events (seminars, artistic events, book signings, doctoral dissertation receptions…); as well as new furniture. Thanks to these improvements, the breakfast room is even more welcoming, a new workspace and common area have been created, and the baggage room is more spacious.
Since its opening, Hôtel Marignan has welcomed clients from all over the world. Some of them return regularly and consider the Hôtel Marignan to be their home away from home.
Thanks to its ideal location near the Sorbonne, the Collège de France and numerous research labs and engineering schools near the Panthéon, many professors, research scientists and intellectuals have been hotel clients.
The hotel’s history has also been shaped by well-known people who have stayed there. The American poet e.e. cummings, the Franco-Rumanian philosopher Emil Cioran, the painter Mordecai Ardon, the writer and playwright Tadeusz Konwicki, the artist and director Tadeusz Kantor, the poet Avrom Sutzkever, the author of “Zorba the Greek” Nikos Kazantzakis, the geneticist and anthropologist Jacques Ruffié, have all stayed at the hotel. Some of these artists and intellectuals were friends of the Keniger family.
