If you are an English speaker and love French culture, you might feel a bit left out when French people talk about a famous French film and you haven’t seen it because… it’s all in French! The best way is to watch the film with English subtitles but it’s impossible to find a cinema that plays French films with English subtitles. It’s obviously always the opposite in France! Well, now Lost in Frenchlation is here to help!
They hope to one day have their own cinema that allows the international community to enjoy the best of French film on any given day, but for the time being they are starting small with monthly screenings of a mix of classic and current box office movies. They also host drinks before and/or after screenings with some innovative film-themed cocktails that the viewers can enjoy while they chat about the film or anything else that pops into their heads!
Lost in Frenchlation is back on Fevruary 2 to bring you “one of 2017’s most anticipated films in France”, ‘Dalida’! The film depicts the epic life story of the Egyptian-born Italian-French singer – ‘ an unconventional modern woman living through conventional times’ – whose impact on France was so great that her statue rests next to the iconic Sacre Coeur.
The screening will start at the charming and typically Parisian cinema Le Brady at 7:15pm with tickets available online ONLY here: https://www.weezevent.co
After the film, join everyone at ‘Tony’ – winner of a Time Out Paris Bar of the Year 2016 award – where you can enjoy the famous house cocktail for only €6, a Spritz for €5, or for those of you looking to satisfy your hunger, a selection of cheese and charcuterie accompanied by a bottle of wine for only €25! ‘Tony’ is only a 3 minute walk from Le Brady and there will be a privatised area for Lost in Frenchlation’s guests.
‘From her birth in Cairo in 1933 to her first concert at the Olympia in Paris in 1956; from her marriage to Lucien Morisse, director of the newly emerging Europe 1 radio to the height of the disco scene; from her journey of discovery to India to the international success of Gigi L’Amoroso in 1974, DALIDA the film, is a touching and tragic portrait of an emotionally complex woman who was born to be a star. An unconventional modern woman living through conventional times. Despite her tragic death in 1987 Dalida’s extraordinary presence and talent continue to live on.’
